Our mission
Connecting the dots between incarceration and a real second chance.
Families are often left trying to understand unfamiliar systems while supporting someone they love. Incarcerated people may know they need help, but not which programs exist or how to build a workable plan from inside.
8th House closes that gap. We explain the process in plain language, listen to the person behind the booking number and connect both the individual and family to resources that can make reentry as successful as possible.

The family reaches out
We explain common jail communication systems and procedures, learn what the family understands so far and identify the questions causing the most confusion.

When permitted by the facility, 8th House may accept calls or attend an approved in-person reentry-planning visit requested by the family to understand the person's circumstances, goals and needs directly.

We research appropriate resources, organize practical next steps and build a plan designed to give the individual solid ground to land on after release.
Why 8th House
Successful reentry is part of preventing the next arrest.
Reoffending is not always the result of someone refusing to change. People can leave custody without identification, transportation, treatment, stable housing, employment or anyone who understands what they are facing.
Our goal is to reduce those preventable failures by beginning the work early. When a person is otherwise eligible for release but lacks a workable residence, treatment connection, transportation or another practical resource, we help identify and organize possible options for the appropriate decision-makers to consider. No one should remain incarcerated simply because no one connected the available dots.

8th House is an independent navigation and reentry-planning service, not a law firm or government agency. We cannot change charges, sentences, custody status or release decisions, and we do not promise that a resource plan will result in release. Jail calls and visits remain subject to facility approval, monitoring and communication rules; planning conversations are not attorney-client privileged. Program availability and eligibility must be confirmed by the provider or supervising authority.
